Omagugu & Nduduzo Makhathini present Zulu Love Stories & Songs
15 February @ 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
R250 – R300
From meeting as music students at Technikon Natal to starting a family together. Clearly, music is an essential component for Omagugu and Nduduzo but so is family. When the couple got married and moved in together, they combined their CD/LP and books collection upon which they discovered similar musical tastes and interests.
This concert is aimed at tracing their sonic convergences but also locate black love through singing songs that they love from their repertoire. There will be a particular focus of Zulu love songs to go against stereotypes created by colonialism that black families lack language for romance and gentleness. This will form part of the Valentine’s celebrations towards a Zulu version of love expressed through songs.
