The First Annual Joyous Easter MegaFest has Loaded

South Africa’s pioneering gospel ensemble, MTN Joyous Celebration is pushing the envelope yet again this year, with the official launch of its Joyous Easter MegaFest at the Durban ICC from 07-09 April 2023.

27 albums, multiple awards, 26 national, intercontinental, and international shows, and tours later, MTN Joyous Celebration returns with a glorious bang this season as it demonstrates its tenacity and determination to continuously give its fans and supporters the best that they can offer.

Founding Member, Dr. Lindelani Mkhize had this to say about the upcoming Joyous Easter MegaFest, “the time is now! And all roads lead to Durban this Easter, the place where it all began and that offers a plethora of activities in the lush, beautiful, and warm province of KwaZulu Natal where patrons will be spoiled for choice. We are all about new beginnings, and this festival marks a new beginning for us as a group. For years, our fans, supporters, and music lovers have associated Easter weekends with Joyous in Joburg. The support has been incredible, and we know that some may feel a tad disappointed about the change. We assure all our followers that this move is a start of something new and fresh as we build up to our next milestone celebration but also affords our supporters and the broader Joyous family a different yet familiar experience”.

The Joyous Easter MegaFest will be a three-day event, giving festival-goers an experience like no other. On Good Friday, MTN Joyous Celebration will take to the stage, to render its mesmeric performances as they launch their 27th instalment, recorded last year at Emperors Palace and with two offerings: Hope & Victory. Concert goers can expect a Joyous Experience from start to finish with majestic performances, world-class production, dazzling costumes, and melodious voices – that the choir has become revered for. The ensemble will take partakers and revelers on a Hope and Victory journey.

The second day of the festival brings a fresh take on gospel! “We thought of ways to go beyond our normal offering and broaden the experience by adding this exciting leg to our Easter festivities. On Saturday night we will stage our first-ever Gospel meets Soul & Jazz Supper Club. A banquet dinner set up, where guests will be treated to the serenading sounds of gospel-infused with soul and jazz presented by a Joyous ensemble and accompanied by good food and drinks. We have always taken pride in having something for everyone in our offering, and this year we felt the need to up the bar and be bold.
