Dawjee Trio

Dawjee Trio is a dynamic group of musicians assembled by Muhammad Dawjee (saxophones, sounds and trinkets).

The ensemble draws inspiration from the sonic landscape of Southern African black music, emphasising the South African jazz tradition.

Currently, in Johannesburg, the group features Siphiwe Shiburi on drum kit and Romy Brauteseth on upright bass, stalwarts of the scene who bring Dawjee’s original compositions to life through vulnerable interplay and thunderous improvisation.

Dawjee Trio is grounded in spiritual energy, in difference and in a shared pursuit of divine freedoms and supreme love.
