Muneyi: For the Boys I Like
27 November @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
R250Muneyi’s For the Boys I Like EP is an intimate journey that reflects his emotions, focusing on themes of love, identity, and vulnerability. This work differs from his previous album, Makhulu, which honored his grandmother; here, Muneyi channels a deeply personal narrative, allowing listeners to connect with his reflections on relationships and self-discovery.
The EP begins with “Maipfi” (meaning “words”), a haunting collaboration with Msaki, depicting the fading remnants of love. The song is built around poignant imagery, with Msaki’s vocals emphasizing the emotional weight of this ending. Later, the track “Feelings” brings together Muneyi with Leon John and Yanga Yaya, celebrating self-acceptance and empathy through a trio of harmonized voices. Another highlight is the interlude “Affirmations,” which adds a warm, comforting touch, resembling a heart-to-heart with a friend, exploring fleeting yet affirming moments of connection.
This project stands out as a testament to Muneyi’s growth as an artist, combining heartfelt lyrics with soulful melodies to provide listeners a space to explore their own vulnerabilities and joys.
