South African singer-songwriter NALEDI has released her debut album, BATHO, which means “people” in her native Sesotho. The album reflects her journey and connection to her communities, both in South Africa and around the world. Now based in New York, NALEDI explains that BATHO represents her mission to share her people’s stories, rich history, and bring others along on her journey. The record is a mix of personal exploration and a call to action, inspired by her move to Boston in 2018 to study jazz performance. Music became her comfort in a new country, helping her combat homesickness and stay connected to her roots.
