Following the passing of their beloved mother, the late Vuyelwa Luzipo, siblings Barlo and Titi Luzipo proudly present Songs Our Mother Taught Us — a heartfelt musical tribute celebrating her life, legacy, and enduring influence.
Originally conceived by Titi as Songs My Mother Taught Me, the production was created as a living tribute and a way of preserving family history through song. The repertoire reflects the music that shaped her upbringing and honours the artists and sounds that inspired generations.
The programme features songs from The Soul Jazzmen, the renowned 1970’s jazz ensemble in which Vuyelwa Luzipo was a vocalist, alongside timeless works by Letta Mbulu, Miriam Makeba, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, and many others.
More than a tribute, Songs Our Mother Taught Us is a celebration of heritage, musical excellence, and the rich cultural lineage passed down through generations. It promises to be an evening of nostalgia, storytelling, and exceptional music.
