Tete Mbambisa & Tefo Mahola
5 December @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
R200Tete & Tefo share the stage in a captivating performance, combining their unique talents to deliver an unforgettable jazz experience.
Tete Mbambisa, a renowned South African jazz pianist, has been largely overlooked in jazz history until recently. In 2023, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Cape Town. His albums from the 1970s are among the most cherished vinyl documents from this golden era. His newly released album, ‘African Day,’ is an archival compilation of unreleased recordings from 1976 to resurrect a “lost” Tete Mbambisa double album that falls between his seminal works Tete’s Big Sound (1975) and Did You Tell Your Mother (1979).
Tefo Mahola’s latest project, “Ngoku,” takes us on a profound journey through our nation’s struggles and the personal challenges of black men in South Africa. ???? This powerful album showcases a more expansive and experimental sound than his award-winning debut, “First Offering.”
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to witness these two jazz giants perform live!
