R150Uviwe Caso is a Cape Town based guitar player. He first picked up the instrument at age 12 and began formal music education at the age of 14 years under the guitar tuition of Alvin Dyers. His music career started a year later, playing on many stages with his high school jazz band.
Uviwe pursued higher education in jazz sudies and completed a BMus degree at the University of Cape Town, during his degree, he was exposed to european jazz through an exchange program for a semester in Oslo Norway
under the guitar tuition of Lage Lund.His guitar playing is deeply rooted in South African jazz, where rhythm and groove is prominent with an european inspired sound and harmony. He has been recognised nationally in both the schools and youth ensembles of the Makhanda jazz festival. He’s has shared the stage with Mandla Mlangeni, Africa Mkhize, George Werner, Mark Fransman, Darren English, just to name a few. He continues to make his contribution for various bands(trio to big bands), projects and artists in the style of jazz, SA jazz, pop and gospel music in and around Cape Town, Germany.
