Editor’s Note: All hands on deck.

Hello family,

We are now officially in the second half of the year and often this is a time where many look to seize whatever it is they have been or are faced with – this call to action being propped by the supposed experience said to have been gained from the first half, alongside the “feel” of the year that we all seem to chase. We are no different, we have now gotten the feel of the year and are ready to seize all that we are faced with.

Firstly, I think it is really important to highlight that Musicist.co.za does not have any full time contributors or people to keep us running, however so, Musicist.co.za keeps running. I would love to personally thank every single person on board and who helps keep us running – your contributions do not go unseen and I have no doubt the audience and respective spaces you serve see you as industry leaders. You legends!

The first half of the year was one of the most difficult periods of our time thus far as Musicist.co.za – and ironically we had never felt more prepared or planned out going into it. Poetically it is often said that one can’t plan for everything. It certainly was a humbling time that taught us a lot about ourselves and how we need to re-center ourselves moving forward. Nonetheless, we published our first short documentary, an episode of #InMyWords, and some great conversations that forge us forward in our mission to archive the stories of storytellers.

We are now all hands on deck going into the closing of the year and have some really exciting ventures and content coming up. The first of which being the now already successfully running Gig Guide as run by Lyric and Mathabo. We are looking forward to getting back into the running of our inhouse playlist series’, including the return of The Underliers series compiled from artist submissions. We will be attending and covering several key music events that are synonymous with this time of the year as well as bringing you exciting interviews with some of your favorite artists and creatives.

Musicist.co.za will always be because it is for the people, by the people.

We thank you all for the continued support and look forward to creating new memories with you through the work we do.

Stay tuned and keep well, Family.
